One Piece Kan-Zero
Quoted from ANN:
Japanese moviegoers who see this year’s One Piece Film Strong World will receive the “0th volume” of Eichiro Oda’s One Piece pirate manga. Oda launched his manga about the young pirate captain Monkey D. Luffy in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine 12 years ago in 1997, but the manga in the upcoming “One Piece Kan-Zero” bonus gift will depict the world of One Piece of 20 years ago. In the real world, Oda was a junior high school student 20 years ago when he conceived of the earliest concepts of the pirate manga that would eventually become One Piece.

Gintama Manga to have a Movie
In the 48th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, it was said that Gintama manga is being adapted in a movie. It has a tagline, “Wasshoi Matsuri!!” (“Wasshoi” is a traditional rallying cry at Japanese festivals, or matsuri.). Warner Brothers already registered Gintama-movie.com earlier this month.

Kimi ni Todoke: Seating Changed
I’m having a real bad day today that even an exam exemption could not changed it.
Last week was a hell week to be continued on until Tuesday next week. I barely had a wink with all those pre-final and final exams. There were also a lot of people who did things enough to stress me out. I haven’t started anything now because laziness strikes again even if I already forced myself to start doing my school works bit by bit. Goodness, I definitely need a break!
And so, I decided to watch an anime to give me some piece of mind. I decided to watch Kimi ni Todoke (Reaching You) episoded 2. In this episode, Sawako found a stray dog near a river and decided to leave her umbrella to prevent the puppy from soaking. At school, Kazehaya noticed that she is wet due to rain and he personally asked Yoshida to lend her sweat shirts to Sawako. As a sign of gratitude, Sawako left some drinks on the table of Yano, Yoshida, and Kazehaya. During their homeroom, their teacher told them to arrange seats among themselves. Of course, no one would like to seat near Sawako so Kazehaya decided to seat beside her. Yano, Yoshida, and even Ryuu followed him. On the last scene, Kurumi finally made an appearance.
I followed the manga but I can’t help but fall for Kazehaya again. He is really sweet and all. No wonder, girls on their campus have an agreement. The anime is a bit fast-paced having, I guess, 3-4 chapters of manga per episode. Anyway, that’s good. I can’t wait for the future episodes.
Btw, here’s my favorite screencap of Kazehaya from episode 2.

New Seasons for Boys Be and Bloody Monday
Boys Be will have another “season” in the November issue of Kodansha’s Magazine Special.
Quoted from ANN:
The first installment of Boys Be… next season will deal with two people who, after graduating from different high schools, have a fateful meeting at a cultural festival. In the same October issue that announced the return of Boys Be…, Yuichi Kinoshita launched a new manga called Kuro no Royal (Black Royal). Smash! manga creator Kaori Saki also published a special one-shot manga titled “Bokura no Naki-Mushi Sensei” (Our Crybaby Teacher).
Bloody Monday will also resume on 46th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine after over half a year hiatus. The new title will be Bloody Monday Season 2: Pandora no Hako (Pandora’s Box).
Which is superior – Anime or Western Animation?
I’ve just found this article on the net that states 9 reasons why Anime is superior to Western Animation.
Here is a part of the article:
While animation coming out of America has improved a lot in the last several years due to Adult Swim and other influences, it’s still nowhere near where Japanese animation has managed to go. While cartoons in the US were largely relegated to kiddie fare for so many decades, it made much larger strides in Japan for quite a few reasons, with shows spanning across all demographics and genres. There are exceptions to every rule, though often those exceptions are called anime when they’re not. Yes, we’re looking at you Avatar the Last Airbender. So why is anime superior?
Reasons:
9. Complete Stories
8. Depth of Character
7. Depth of Story
6. Relationships Treated Realistically
5. Even When It’s for Children, It’s Not for Children
4. Adult Animation
3. Culture/History Is Important
2. The Budget Is on the Screen
1. Hayao Miyazaki

Personally, I agree with the author. I never liked hearing people saying that anime is the same as cartoon. Sounds like, Bugs Bunny is on the same level as Lelouch.! Of course, that won’t ever happen. Just like what is written on the article, anime has a plot. Some may be out of this world type of story but it definitely depicts realistic side of humanity. That’s why there are characters whom we can relate ourselves to. That is also how the characters from an Anime have a connection to its audience. Another thing is the animation itself. The characters are well-drawn, the bg is often good, and the music really suits the story.
I also hear people saying that since anime is just like cartoons, therefore, it is for children ONLY. Okay, if it really is for children only, why don’t you try asking an elementary kid to watch Death Note or Code Geass then, try asking their opinion about the series. I wonder if they can truly appreciate the message of the series nor understand the characters’ actions. ^^
Oh, and btw, I don’t have any grudge or whatsoever to Bugs Bunny. I just used him as an example. ^_^
